But still chances of survival for those trees are very small and again it took hundred of years for them to mature. Unless of course if you prefer the forest completely packed with Acacia mangium.

~C~Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544768131514008556.post-78567511406801388492007-10-20T04:59:00.000+01:002007-10-20T04:59:00.000+01:00oh well, I am working closely with the environment...oh well, I am working closely with the environment, and really knows whats happening. But anyway, we'll see, hopefully that the country knows how to remedy. Maybe in the next 50 years or so we'll be another barren country with lots of natural disaster going on coz there's just no more rainforest to dam the rain, all the river full of mud and silts, flash floods everywhere, etc etc....
maybe only until then, then we knew what we've done.
Bak kata pepatah orang melayu "sudah terantuk baru tengadah".

~C~Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544768131514008556.post-25662030733554197542007-10-19T11:06:00.000+01:002007-10-19T11:06:00.000+01:00i think its easier to be against it than seeing th...i think its easier to be against it than seeing the good side of all this esp with a lot of greenhouse, global warming etc awareness widely spread nowadays. n as for me, i do think our country or any country at that cant be perfect in this field = making small mistakes here and there but i believe nothing is taken for granted in ours. only select few indulgent people still not getting caught. nothing terrible on a wider scale.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7544768131514008556.post-76929697932201763872007-10-19T06:37:00.000+01:002007-10-19T06:37:00.000+01:00Dear Sampulnak, I think the comment that was poste...Dear Sampulnak,
I think the comment that was posted on the news in your university and will be in the UK is actually to our benefit, so that we won't make the mistakes that they did. Barren out their land until there's nothing left anymore. You should know this as you are living currently there. As far as the eye can see, there's just nothing left anymore.
You probably have not been into the forest somewhere in Sabah, your own state. The deforestation pace for logging industry and oil palm is just so immense and scary. And you must think that this is all for the benefits of the nation, well its actually not true. This giant companies that currently logging, the owner of the big vast oil palm plantation are actually mostly foreigners. Companies from Taiwan, Japan, the UK and you named it. They are bringing the profit out of Malaysia my dear.
Not to mention effects that all this plantations and logging on the river ecosystem, etc etc...
I could go on forever on this topic..
But use your logic thinking and start pondering on whats happening with a cool head.

~C~Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
